Hadley Rowland

Hadley Rowland

Coach Hadley Rowland has coached with J&M since 2007, specializing in Age Group 1 and youth development at Franconia Rec. With experience leading summer league and high school programs to championship titles, she also teaches art at BASIS Independent McLean and spends her summers teaching swim lessons in Alexandria.

Bethany Banal

Bethany Banal

Bethany Banal is the Lead Coach for the Mount Vernon morning Hybrid group and joined J&M at the start of the 2025–2026 season. With 19 years of full-time coaching experience, including roles with NBAC and AAC, she has also served as Head Coach at Belle Haven Country Club for 12 years. A former Marine Biology major who once trained dolphins, she is now a stay-at-home mom of three young children

Kate Murray

Kate Murray

Kate Murray is a USA-certified swim coach with 10 years of experience, including six years at Hayfield Farm Swim Club and recent coaching at GW and Mount Vernon RecCenters. She currently coaches Age Groups 1–2, Stroke School, and Learn-to-Compete programs, combining her passion for swimming with her work as a physical therapy tech at Mount Vernon Physical Therapy

Aaron Bright

Aaron Bright

Aaron coaches Age Group 2 at Mount Vernon and Franconia Rec, returning to J&M after coaching in high school and post-graduation from Virginia Tech. With six years at Hayfield Farms Swim Club, including two as assistant head coach, he combines swim coaching with personal training to help athletes improve speed, technique, and overall fitness.

Emilee Ferrari

Emilee Ferrari

Emilee Ferrari is a former NCAP swimmer and New Mexico State University competitor, specializing in sprint freestyle and earning all-conference honors. After coaching age group swimmers in college, she now works in production management and coaches age group swimmers at Providence

Alicia Sendmeyer

Alicia Sendmeyer

Coach Alicia has been coaching school-aged swimmers since 2013, including 8 seasons as head coach of the Vicenza Mako Sharks in Italy. Since moving to the DC area in 2022, she has coached at Hayfield Secondary and is now in her 3rd season with NCAP Alexandria, leading early morning AG3+ sessions at Franconia. An RN by profession, she emphasizes technique, hard work, and fun to help swimmers reach their goals.

Christopher Hanson

Chris Hanson is a former competitive swimmer and longtime coach who swam at Bishop Ireton and Susquehanna University. After 15 years coaching in New Jersey, he returned to J&M in 2024 and now leads the Hybrid group at Franconia

Tim Boyd

Tim Boyd

Tim Boyd is an experienced swim coach and Assistant Coach for the AM Senior Prep group at Franconia Recreation Center. Coaching since 1988 and part of J&M since its beginning, he combines decades of leadership, competitive success, and educational experience to support swimmer development at every level.

Kelli Makin

Kelli Makin

Kelli has over 30 years of coaching experience and has been with NCAP Alexandria for the past 3 years. She also serves as registrar and payroll administrator. A lifelong swimmer in Northern Virginia, she competed in NVSL, PVS, and for the University of Mary Washington. Kelli and her husband Paul have been involved with the Mount Vernon Park Gators for 20 years, and all three of their children swam with NCAP Alexandria.

Katie McWilliams

Katie McWilliams coaches Age Group 3 on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Franconia Rec Center. With 14 years of experience at J&M, she brings a strong background in both competitive swimming and youth development. A former distance swimmer at the University of Virginia, she provides structured, supportive coaching for swimmers of all levels. Outside the pool, she works as a third grade teacher in Fairfax County

Jeff King

Coach Jeff has been coaching since the late 1970s with a mission to make swimming more inclusive and meaningful beyond just fast times and rankings. He focuses on individual progress, confidence, discipline, and helping swimmers build a lifelong connection to the water. Throughout his career, he has trained Olympians and served on Olympic and USA National Teams, while also dedicating many years to community coaching and developing athletes at every level.
