CoachHadley Rowland grew up swimming butterfly, backstroke and the 500 free in the Chattanooga, TN area. During college she decided to work
on her breath control, switching it up by joining the tarpon shark synchronized swimming club for 4 years.
After moving to Alexandria she took a break from swimming until a layoff lead her back to the pool. Coach Hadley started coaching Age group 1 with J and M swim in 2007. For a few years she also coached the High School Fitness group on Monday nights. In 2015 Coach Hadley and Coach Trish Buswell joined forces and started coaching the Monday and Wednesday Age group 1 (aka the 8 and unders) group at the Franconia Rec Center.
Hadley spent a few summers as the head coach for the City of Alexandria Wahoos, out of the Old Town Pool, and Linconia Park Lazers. She also coached the Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School for four seasons leading them to becoming 2011 ISL Swim and Dive Champions, 2010 & 2011 WMPSSDL Relay Champions.
She now spends her summers in the pool teaching swim lessons and swimming for fun at the Old Town pool for one more summer till it closes in the fall 2026. While not on the deck she’s an art teacher to middle and high schoolers at Basis Independent Mclean. Tuesdays are reserved for break glass and designing stained glass panels.
